At FB DOORS, we care about the kind of security your family needs in the presence of hurricanes. We like keeping you informed about the risks of hurricanes; one of the most lethal storms that have passed through the United States in the last decade was Hurricane Harvey in August 2017. It is considered one of the the strongest hurricanes in history and caused the most material damage in the history of Texas, United States.

It was the first storm of such intensity to strike the United States since Hurricane Wilma in the 2005 season, and is also the first such meteorological phenomenon to reach the United States with a Category 4 intensity since Hurricane Charley in 2004. The winds reached up to 130 mph per minute. The passage of Harvey left approximately 60 dead.

Harvey developed from a tropical wave east of the Lesser Antilles on August 17. The storm crossed through the Windward Islands the next day, through Barbados, and later near St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Upon entering the Caribbean Sea, Harvey began to weaken due to the moderate wind speed, and degenerated into a tropical wave in northern Colombia at the beginning of August 19.

The remnants were monitored for regeneration while continuing west and northwest through the Caribbean and the Yucatan Peninsula, returning to develop in the Bay of Campeche on August 23. Harvey then began to intensify rapidly on August 24, regaining tropical storm status and becoming a hurricane later that day.

Harvey’s intensification phase stagnated slightly during the night of August 24-25. However, Harvey soon resumed strengthening and became a Category 4 hurricane at the end of August 25. Hours later, Harvey arrived in Rockport, Texas.
